Missouri Contemporary Ballet began in July, 2006 in Columbia, Mo. and was co-founded by Artistic/Executive Director Karen Mareck Grundy and Associate Director Sean France. A not-for-profit professional contemporary ballet company, MCB is committed to providing a professional environment and performance opportunities for artists around the country. By bringing in new and emerging choreographers to work with the dancers of MCB, both dancers and choreographers are given the prospect to create and be created upon in a positive, nurturing and professional atmosphere. MCB's repertoire includes a multiple of styles and techniques of dance; ballet en pointe, modern, jazz, and lyrical. Creating exciting, edgy, hip entertainment, Missouri Ballet is determined to make the experience of live dance appealing to any age. Missouri Contemporary Ballet provides many educational and outreach performances for the Mid-Missouri area as well as maintaining a full season in Columbia and touring throughout Missouri.
